Congratulations
From Martin Thomas, OBE, O St J, J.P., D.L. President WWRU 2004
I appreciate the opportunity to congratulate the West Wales Rugby Union upon their celebration of 75 years since their formation in 1929. The inaugural Chairman being the late Mr Fred G. Phillips.
The small number of founder Clubs has now grown to 62, which reflects the capability of it's officers over the years, and one recalls some promising rugby Administrators who have been associated with West Wales Rugby Union.
Over the years, we have witnessed some great matches in both the Cup and Championship, attended by large crowds.
The West Wales Rugby Union can indeed be immensely proud of its record and its great contribution to Welsh Rugby. They have produced players of distinction, whose names are deservedly record in rugby history.
We are grateful to the Clubs in the Union for their support over the years, and especially in producing players who have gone on to represent Premier Clubs, Regions and indeed to International Honours.
I thank the constituent Clubs, officials, Committee past and present of the West Wales Rugby Union for their outstanding contribution, and extend every good wishes in this year of celebration, and that it will be as successful as the Union's great achievements deserve.
